About Scripture

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, authoritative Word of God. It is the sole basis for our faith and life. (Psalm 119, Proverbs 30:5, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

About God

There is only one God, infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness and love, the Creator of the universe; He exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each of Whom possesses all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality. (Matthew 28:19, John 20:28, Acts 5:3-4, Ephesians 4:4-6, Colossians 1:15, 1 Timothy 3:16)

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He is God in the flesh, both true God and true man. He lived a sinless life, showed forth his power through miracles, and voluntarily suffered and died as our substitute to pay the penalty for our sins, thus satisfying God’s justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust Him alone.

Jesus Christ rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He bodily ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, makes intercession for His own. He will return to earth personally, visibly and bodily in power and glory to judge all men and establish His Kingdom. ( Isaiah 7:14, John 1:1, John 1:14, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 1:19-21, Colossians 1:16)

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity and ministers presently in the lives of believers and to unbelievers. It is by the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence that the believer is enabled to live a godly life and receive gifts of grace. ( John 14:16, John 14:26, Acts 1:8, Romans 12:6, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, Galatians 5:22-25, Hebrews 13:20-21)

Man, Sin & Salvation

God created man in His own image, and man as he was originally created was innocent before God. But man chose to sin by disobeying God and therefore was alienated from his Creator and came under divine condemnation. Thus all human beings are born with a corrupted nature and without spiritual life, and are totally incapable of pleasing God in and of themselves. Men and women are freed from the penalty for their sins only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead. Only those who repent of their sins and receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become Christians. (Genesis 1:26, Romans 3:23-26, 10:9-10)

The Resurrection of the Dead

At physical death, the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his or her own body to everlasting glory and blessing. At physical death, the unbeliever enters immediately into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his or her body to everlasting suffering, judgment and condemnation. (John 3:16-19, John 5:25-29)

The Church

The Church is a universal body of believers in Jesus Christ that encompasses and transcends generations and people groups. Christians are unified in their common faith in Jesus Christ. However, it is unscriptural to unite with movements, churches or groups who deny the basic doctrines of the Christian faith. Believers should assemble together in local churches – for worship, prayer, fellowship and teaching… to become conformed to the image of Christ and to become equipped to carry out the “Great Commission” that Christ gave His followers. (Deuteronomy 22:10-11, Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Corinthians 5:9, 10:21, Ephesians 4:11-16, Hebrews 10:23-35, Revelation 18:4)

Communion

At New Life, we observe the ‘Lord’s Supper’ regularly, at least once a month. We invite all followers of the Lord Jesus Christ to join in remembering His death on the cross. It is important for believers to “examine themselves” before taking communion so they can properly recognize the significance of Christ’s body and blood as a sacrifice for their sins. (Acts 2:42, 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:23-30)

Baptism

There is no symbol of Christianity that is more powerful than baptism. We believe in and practice baptism of believers by immersion. Baptism is that act of faith, where a new Christian celebrates new life already provided by faith in Jesus Christ as God’s Son and in His death and resurrection. In baptism, the believer clearly pictures their own identity being united with Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection! Our baptismal services are celebrations where the Gospel is made attractive to the new believer and any invited family or friends. (Romans 6:1-4, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:12,13; Acts 8:30-39; Acts 16;14,15; Acts 16:31-33)
